Federico Carminati · Eeek! An artist! — Painter
Figurative images like the pieces of a rebus: the doubts of existence, painted in toothpaste, papier-mâché, LED lights, epoxy resin. The key, often, lies in the eye of the observer.

Federico Carminati, born in Bergamo on 13 November 1981. Let me introduce myself: I work as a lawyer to make a living, and to survive this convoluted world I paint whatever my mind deems worthy of note — with a preference, in any case, for figurative art.
In my works I try to represent the doubts that assail me about existence, joining the images my mind presents to me as if composing a rebus — often hard to understand even for me. That is why the key of interpretation the observer brings to my works gives me a cue, and a help, in reading the messages I send.
I am a self-taught painter and I use mixed techniques and unusual materials such as epoxy resins, toothpaste, salvaged objects, papier-mâché and LED lights.
Artist statement
I paint doubts, not answers. Often it is the eye of the observer that hands me the key to the rebus: the interpretation of what I myself have composed on the canvas.
